For the purposes of filling out a portfolio I took the book "Un Lun Dun" and did some character designs.
Some liberties were taken with Cauldron and Brokkenbroll.

I love "Un Lun Dun."
It's a nice change of pace to the "chosen one" genre and there's a playfulness to the word choice and chapter format I rarely ever see.
Needless to say, go read it.

Wonderful work, I love the look of your characters. Obaday's expression is to die for, perfect characterisation.

(One minor note: like other artists, you couldn't resist the "English schoolgirl-look" Of course, that's technically correct, but at the first time Zanna and Deeba were wearing everyday clothes. For the second time Deeba was crossing from the school library, so she IS wearing school clothes for the most part... OK, it's really not important, I just wanted to say something :-) )

Anyways, I would LOVE an animated movie based on your designs :-)

Have you read any other books by China Mieville?
This is great I especially love your rendition of Jones!
And the stance and expression of Obaday is perfect!

I haven't read any of his other novels.
But I did enjoy his short story collection "Looking for Jake."
